Struck Dumb...

Much was made of a wintery little joke Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas cracked before a live mike at a public hearing the other day. Apparently this is the first time Clarence Thomas has condescended to say anything in a public Supreme Court hearing in over five years. The standard liberal blogger line of attack is to impute Thomas' intelligence, however my own thinking is that his Mind Is Made Up long before any arguments are heard therefore little can be said in the context of oral arguments to change his his mind. And in truth, the Conservative Movement in the USA is run by people like Clarence Thomas whose worldview is built around a resistance to persuasion, debate or factuality. There is a difference therefore between Stupid and Stubborn....and Clarence Thomas is Stubborn to a fault.
