Hatin' on the Commonwealth, it must be close to the New Hampshire GOP Presidential Primary....typical.
Well, Humble Elias stands foursquare for the glories of Massachusetts! Our relatively low unemployment rate (seven percent or so last I checked) allows this state to absorb ghod knows how many workers from jobless recession wracked New Hampshire...If you don't believe me, take a drive thru the parking garage at Alewife Station and count all the "Live Free or Die"license plates.
You'd think Gingrich wouldn't be so churlish as to criticize the source of many a Granite State paycheck after all....

Newt Gingrich wants to arrest Federal Judges
who actively defy his ideological agenda should he become President.
Why stop there Newt?
Why not arrest congresspersons who obstruct your agenda, shit for that fact you could jail the portion of the electorate that did not vote for you?
But I snark, in the arid pseudo intellectual mind of the Former Speaker, one literally does not vote for candidates, one empowers via voting an entire ideology to Total Power....And lets not quibble about divorces or gays or gamey conservative payola.

Now...There is one observation I'd like to make here, and that is, Newt Gingrich is not anti-judiciary by nature and more than he was ant-executive when he screamed up impeachment against Bill Clinton.
What Newt opposes violently, is anything that impedes conservatives Right to Rule. Now if that means wrecking the separation of powers and creating a despotism in the process, he is fine with it so long as it is a conservative despotism.
You have to read a lot of books, immerse yourself in political science for years on end and think a great deal to come up with a public philosophy that destructive to liberty.
So much for the scholar in politics eh?

Honest to Ghod...
at the rate Newt Gingrich is disintegrating, he won't last til the 2011 Preakness let alone the 2012 New Hampshire Primary.
I mean two separate and contradictory positions on abolishing Medicare, in one week!??
The man is positively Romneyesque.
Anyhow my theory is, Newt is screwing his candidacy up deliberately. He has no stomach for the big race, Gingrich just wants to make some headlines and flame out in a spectacular fashion so he can go back on conservative welfare and start the search for wife # 4 or #5.

Waaa-al Shut mah mouth...
Newt Gingrich is really gonna run for President in 2012.
I thought for sure he'd chicken out again like he did in 1996, 2000 & 2008, but I guess his owners at Fox News got sick of his phony Hamlet act and since they have the glossy photos....
Still, Newt will make a hash of this count on it. He is likely only going thru the motions because Foreign Business Despot Rupert Murdoch has forced him into a race that was increasingly looking like the clown car at Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Gingrich has almost as much noxious baggage as the Late Edward Maximus (God Rest his Soul)...He won't do much business in the north and social conservatives are spoiled for choices this year.
In all poor prospects for the ex-house speaker.
Gingrich does have a small natural constituency in the punditariat which has always overlooked Newt's inborn cowardice while being inexplicably impressed with his sophomoric intellectual credentials. But the deference of the David Broders of this world doesn't constitute a electoral majority.
Despite all that, the GOP debates are about to become even shriller and more hilariously pretentious, I for one cannot wait.

Ghod almighty but
Newt Gingrich sounds serious about running for President in 2012.
I mean follow the above link, there he is up at my Alma Mater, Saint Anselm College bellowing for even bigger federal deficits and a foreign policy composed of Total Fear.
He even took questions from students, given the horse's ass he made of himself last week over Libya that comes as a shock.
Still this is Newt Gingrich we are talking about he is very very good at sounding serious about running for President without ever indulging the necessary followup.
The man is also a high-tech gaffe generator par excellence, just get some meek St A's co-ed to ask him about the Catholic Church's prohibition of divorce and watch the smoke shoot out of the Former Speaker's ears.

Newt Gingrich is outski...
the AP etc is reporting he will NOT be running for President in 2008.
Beeeg-a surprise there eh? Did anyone else really think he was somehow gonna raise 30 million large in one month with which to storm the New Hampshire primary?
Good grief but who was he kidding with that one? Does Gingrich know how hard it is to rise 300,000 in one month let alone 30 million??
Of course he does, Newt was once Speaker of the House...which is why the whole thing was nonsense from hour one.
Oh but Gingrich had a good two week run with the usual David Broder types swooning at the thought of this " intellectual in politics", flooding the Granite State with erudite DVDs and five hour policy speeches.
In truth, Newt has always been a shrill little prick, a smug boomer perpetually desperate for attention...he has been doing this bizarre "I'm ALMOST gonna run for President" act since 1999, he just did it a little better this time, the usual smug boomer pundits fell for it like hayseeds at at medicine show.
Otherwise, Gingrich is proof positive that for the past twenty five years the US Punditariat has been slowly lowering the bar such that a fatuous garrulous sophomore like Newt can be annointed "a scholar in politics" on the basis of having read "The Prince" and "Future Shock" both in the same semester.
Well he is out of presidential contention and the race is the better for it, the GOP has enough frauds running for the White House as it is.

Gingrich sez "Gimme thirty million and I'll run for President!"
An appeal so unpleasantly mercenary that it is almost admirable in its simplicity.
I don't know about his commitment to his so called "ideas", but as an example of sheer political shysterism this is pretty impressive.
Frankly the lateness of the political hour indicates that this is naught but manipulative nonsense from the Former Speaker. The venerable New Hampshire Primary detonates in what...four months?!!? Thirty million large or not, Newt Gingrich can't go all-up in that space of time in Iowa and the Granite State, it is impossible especially for such an ubiquitous political personality.
No this is nothing but a canny attention getting device, if he is serious then he has been once again double-dosing on crazy pills.
