John McCain and the fabulous futuristic world of 2013....

Senator McCain has rather clumsily flip flopped this week...did anyone notice? A few short months ago he was bellowing that we'd stay in Iraq for "one hundred years" if that is what it took. Now he sez we can wrap up our job in Iraq by 2013...a reduction in task-time of ninety-five years!
Wow!
At this rate McCain will have us out by December!
Of course that "one hundred years" bushwah was blood-curdling nonsense served up for the delectation of the GOP's praetorians during the primaries...so does that now mean the closer we get to November the more McCain coos like a old wrinkly dove?
Probably not, 2108 or 2013, the dates don't really matter anymore, the army is already broken from the stress of an unpopular occupation, falling enlistments and indifferent tactics dreamed up by a bunch of giddy wowsers in the White House Situation Room.
Anyone unwilling to face those facts, is naught but a fantasist thus John McCain can bellow and snarl all he likes about war and honor and victory but he is still chasing a will o' th' wisp.
Let us hope people wake up to that soonest.

A revision

After reading this news item, I begin to wonder if McCain can make to Labor Day.
Right now it sounds like everyone in the McCain camp is in deep denial, but sooner or later someone has to sit down with the candidate and make them see reason.
It is always sad when it ends like this before a single vote has been cast, John McCain is much like Marc Anthony's legionaries who "saw reason" and simply melted away during the night leaving him alone against Augustus.
Here an already strained metaphor, collapses, for truly who is cast as Augustus among the tinpots, frauds, boosters and tedious glad-handers that comprise the current GOP presidential roster?

Saw Senator McCain on CNN last night

he was bloviating about some damn thing. My Ghod though, he looked awful...beady-eyed, McCain has a weird pasty pallor and his whattles have started to vibrate on their own unique frequency as he blabs away.
Granted the man was tortured at length by communists, but still his staff could invest in a little leading man #1 so that the Bush Regime's Heir Apparent doesn't look like the Ghost of the US Senate on live television.

Senator Orrin Hatch on Imus this morning

a more pitifully hilarious scenario couldn't be imagined outside the gin soaked remnants of the late Terry Southern's mind.
Poor Orrin, the overclass is in eclipse, it's praetorian guards are in flight...some even unto the tattered skirts of that boiling hothead Senator John McCain...and there stands Orrin, like a toddler abandoned at the mall, howling about fighting Al Queda's domestic operatives by killing more and more Iraqis.
At one point...Hatch's voice went up an octave, and quivered like a five year old on the brink of a serious sh*tfit and he stammered "Imagine what would happen if a nuclear bomb went off in New York, how discombobulated things would be?"
(quote is rough but essentially factual?)

Ghod no wonder they are all carrying on like this, they are panicking and with heavy consciences as well, they know they done wrong.

This is the imperial twilight of the National Conservative Colossus, born on election day 1968 and grown to terrible size as a sort ofglobal incubus.
Now look at it, beaten bloody, encrusted with lies and broken promises, a bum too proud to beg but not to scrupulous to steal...we see it's end it will not be pretty.

Is it my imagination or...

did John Kerry put that old pimp Don Imus on the defensive this morning?
These days the I-Man affects an anti-war pose so Senator Kerry noted that Imus' hero Senator John McCain is the Senate's chief exponent of the President's current escalation policy in Iraq.
Imus stammered and dithered beautifully for about thirty seconds before blathering something about an upcoming book from John and Theresa Kerry.
Har!
The Senator also has new website pushing his "set a deadline" for a troop pull out in Iraq.
It can be found here...
The only other thing I discerned from the Senator's call in is that he is in no hurry to endorse anyone and one might think from his tone that he is keeping all his options open.
