Apropos of the MLB...

steroid scandal Lyndon Johnson known how to handle it.
LBJ would have gotten on the phone with Senators Mike Mansfield & Paul Douglas and told him to write the toughest anti-steroid law imaginable.
And damn the owners and the players as well, are they any more bad ass than the forces of race-reaction that opposed Johnson's civil rights program?
I think not.
LBJ would have drove the measure thru Congress like drought stricken cattle...ah but those were the days of leadership in this country.
Nowadays when someone has potent political capital they just hold onto it too long or else exclusively use it to punish their enemies or those disinclined to vote for them.
Sad...but that is the world we live in.
